Filed under: Competitive Shooting, IDPA, Prescott_AZ, Shooting — Dagny Gromer @ 7:49 am

On May 12th and 13th the Yavapai Recreation League is having IDPA matches. Details are here.

On Saturday 5/12 (7:30 pm start time – arrive 1/2 hour early) we will have a night match – there are no lights at the range other than flashlights so everything will be done in low light. 4 stages, cost $5.  This will be the last night match until autumn – don’t miss out!

Sunday 5/13 is our regular monthly IDPA match. Start time is 10 am, try to arrive a bit early. 6 or 7 scenario stages, BUG match, and 3 carbine stages. Cost for a nonmember is $15 + $2 each extra gun.

Nonmembers are Welcome!

IDPA is a good place to practice your CCW skills

Humor: 2K Japanse women buy lambs thinking they are poodles

Filed under: Humor — Dagny Gromer @ 7:47 am

4/30 – This story seems to have been a hoax. I was fooled, but it was still funny.

When I saw this article about 2k Japanese women buying lambs thinking they were poodles, I was unable to stop laughing. I disturbed 2 of my coworkers, they wanted to know what was so funny and then they too could not stop laughing. The error was discovered when the lamb refused to eat dog food and did not bark.

Look at the pictures in the article. Do the photos of a lamb and a poodle look alike to you?

I’m not sure why I found this so humorous.

Gun Control INCREASES violent crime: Stats from Scottland

Filed under: RKBA, self defense — Dagny Gromer @ 7:39 am

We have a real world test to draw upon. This is not theory, not a projection, not conjecture. Just actual FACTS. From Rob Blackstock on LewRockwell.com (a great site btw).

Scotland banned almost all handgun ownership in 1997 in a panicked, emotional overreaction to the March 13, 1996 school shooting in Dunblane, Scotland. What did this get the Scots?

A United Nations report has labeled Scotland the most violent country in the developed world, with people three times more likely to be assaulted than in America. England and Wales recorded the second highest number of violent assaults while Northern Ireland recorded the fewest.

3 per cent of Scots had been victims of assault compared with 1.2 per cent in America and just 0.1 per cent in Japan, 0.2 per cent in Italy and 0.8 per cent in Austria. In England and Wales the figure was 2.8 per cent.

I feel much safer as an armed citizen among other armed citizens than I would depending on the police state to protect me. Now there is a real world example to point to.

Freud on Weapons

Filed under: RKBA, Shooting, self defense — Dagny Gromer @ 9:17 am

“A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity.”
–Sigmund Freud

I was this on Michael Bane’s blog, and a quick google search validated the quote as authentic.
