Fed slashes rates – Yahoo! News via kwout

Now, imagine if we had no central bank, no modern central planning government agency. What would we call it? Maybe freedom?

I’m trying something new today, “blogging in reverse”. Instead of me expressing an opinion on whatever, I’m asking for yours.

Have you ever used a web site to prepare your income taxes online? Would you use that service again?

I have used Intuit’s TurboTax for many years. I am not real happy with them as a company after trying unsuccessfully to move Quicken from windows xp to mac osx.  So I’m looking at options for this year’s unpleasant IRS chore. I did see TurboTax with a state return for $32 at CostCo.

I’m a fan of revisionist history, but can you believe that fortune cookies are from Japan not China??

history, robert e. lee

Today (Jan. 19th) is Robert E. Lee‘s birthday.

Did you know that Pres. Lincoln wanted him to lead the union army in the War Between the States?  Probably not, because saying anything good about the Confederacy is very politically incorrect. The War Between the States was NOT about slavery nor rights for black people, it was all about power and money – just like most wars.  It was not a civil war, which is a war between groups within a country for control of the territory. Rather it was a war for independence of the southern states. Some folks get really politically incorrect and call it the Second War for American Independence.
