My workplace is closed on Jan. 20th for Civil Rights Day. This became a holiday in 1992 in AZ, after a boycott was launched against tourism in AZ over the our choice not to have a Martin Luther King Day holiday. The NFL moved the 1993 Super Bowl site from Phoenix, Ariz., to Pasadena, Calif., because of the MLK Day boycott.
I am all for Civil Rights, especially the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (RBKA). This right is embodied in the Second Amendment to the US Constitution and is the right that guarantees all of the others.
“a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
And the Constitution does not grant us this, or any other right. It states these right are granted by our Creator and the Federal government established by the Constitution may not infringe upon them.
Civil Rights day this year is celebrated on the birthday of a great America, Robert E. Lee who was born on this date in 1807. Happy Birthday, General Lee!
