Gary is a volunteer photographer at the Yavapai Humane Society. Today I went with him to help out. These photos were taken at the YHS.

Yesterday we visited Costco as our dry dog food supply was running low – one cannot run out of dog food with 4 dogs to feed. We get dog food and related items there and at Olsen’s Grain. The dogs do well on Costco’s turkey and sweet potato food. I try to avoid most retailers (other than the grocery stores) this close to Christmas as I dislike large crowds. There was a Santa Claus and a Mrs. Claus there greeting people as they entered the store. I noticed several children whose faces lit up at the site of Santa. That was enjoyable.

As predicted here yesterday, the world did not end on 12/21/2012. Unless the afterlife is the same as what was before, of course.

I say no.
The Mayans failed to forecast their own demise, so their predictions lack credibility. Anyone who claims to believe the world will end tomorrow and who had not maxed out their credit cards and cashed and spent their IRAs also are not credible to me.
There’s a long and colorful history of end of the world predictions, and every one has been wrong. So far.
I plan to write a “I’m alive, Mayans” post tomorrow. Should the world end, I won’t. No one would be here to read it.

Last night rain became snow, leaving cars encased in ice this morning. 24 degrees. Streets were icy but there was some sand on the major streets, which is a big improvement in winter road maintenance over past years. I remember a few years back when the city of Prescott’s plows were snowed in at the yard. After that embarrassment, things improved.
