I just got an email from a friend, telling me that a couple we know (Steve and Debi K.) had lost their home in the Yarnell Hill fire. They got out OK, but one of their 3 dogs did not survive the evacuation. They had an older home that Debi’s parents bought in the 1960’s, which was uninsured due to its age. (Hmm … our 1940’s vintage farm house is full insured).
Our hearts go out to them at this difficult time.

This garden snake visited us on a dog walk. None of the dogs went after it, but one did step on it. The snake was not injured. It was about 12 to 14 inches long. I see these snakes in the bushes around our house, so they must be a common type.

At the Prescott High School, a memorial for the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots killed in the Yarnell Hill Fire. There are 19 flags, I did not get them all in the frame.
