Tomatoes in the Rain, originally uploaded by dagnyg.
One of our tomato plants out in the rain. Some of them are very close to ripe.
The purple water wand will not be used today. It rained yesterday morning, and is raining again today. We are getting a nice, steady, slow rain. It’s rare for rain to fall like this in the northern Az mountains. More typically we get short, heavy downbursts. Most of which runs off. This slower, gentler rain will soak into the the earth and be a great gift to all the plants.
This year the Az monsoon (monsoon means “seasonal rain”) has been very productive, lots of moisture. We count on it for much of our annual precipitation. The land has been unusually green this summer. Nice.
