A canned ham, like my mom used to fix. The black dots are whole cloves, a spice I added to the ham. It was quite good, my husband who “does not like ham” ate about a pound of it for dinner.
Last Thanksgiving I wanted to fix one of these, but I could not find one. I was talking about it with a friend at work and she remembered the product but could not recall when she last saw one in a store. She asked around and at one store they told her that they get them in once in a while because “the elderly people ask for them”. I’m not ready to accept membership in that group (yet). I would check that store from time to time and one day the canned hams appeared. We the elderly must have been asking for them.
