From a YHS email:
Beginning Friday, July 18, Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) is offering its Monsoon Madness adoption special every day through August 3. The promotion features “pick your price” pet adoptions for all cats, kittens, dogs and puppies—all ages, breeds and sizes. The two-week long event is an effort to relieve YHS from overcrowding resulting from the monsoons.
In order to find these animals great homes, YHS is opening its Pet Adoption Center doors seven days a week until the promotion’s end on August 3. Pets can be visited and adopted from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1625 Sundog Ranch Road. The Pet Adoption Center recently announced reduced summer hours to accommodate staff training, but the lives of the animals come first and YHS does consider the overcrowding an emergency.
Nearly 40 percent of all the dogs and cats rescued by YHS each year are rescued during the months of June through August. “This summer we’re seeing a consistency in the number of lost pets rescued, but there has been a decline in the number of adoptions. We need the community’s help to get these wonderful pets into loving homes to sustain YHS’ No Kill Ethic and prevent issues that overcrowding could bring—such as disease,” states Executive Director Ed Boks.
The Monsoon Madness adoption special also applies to YHS’ satellite cat adoption center at the Prescott PetSmart store (277 Walker Road, Prescott, Ariz.). Cats available for adoption can be seen at that location from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.
All adopters must still adhere to all YHS adoption policies and speak with an adoption counselor prior to being able to adopt. No animal holds will be taken during the Monsoon Madness adoption event. YHS recommends potential adopters to bring a copy of their lease agreement (if applicable), all the members of their household, and/or any dogs in the family to get acquainted with their prospective new family member.
