Last night javelinas visited our front porch and did some minor damage. They smashed up an unused bird feeder that had a little bit of seed in it. Here you can see the base, top and smashed plastic tube which used to be a bird feeder. The yellow dots are bird seed the javelinas did not like.

Years ago, before I knew how determined javelinas are about food (kind of like dogs) I stored bird seed in a large plastic tote one the porch. Bad idea, the javelinas tore it to shreds one night and made quite a commotion about it. Next I put the tote in the garage and found out that mice just love bird seed. The mice were more subtle, they chewed a hole in the tote.
