If you’re interested in firearms or high speed photography, watch this video. A .45 caliber pistol is recorded at 73,000 frames per second. I was surprised to see a jet of gas come out the muzzle well before the bullet.  The fastest firearm high speed video I had seen prior to this was 30,000 fps. That one was used as an input to a solids modeling program used by a gun manufacturer.

Vinnie the Pit Bull

The other day I posted some photos of our dogs interacting with a pit bull who is new to the neighborhood. Over the weekend I spoke to the folks that live in that house, here’s the story. The dog’s name is Vinnie, he weighs 100 pounds. The people there adopted him, Vinnie belonged to a friend of theirs who is moving into an apartment. So we have a new dog neighbor.
