Our Chihuahua Betty has a malignant tumor on her butt. The other day I was walking her and when she relived herself I noticed a swelling on her bottom. She has had infected anal glands in the past, that’s what I thought it was. I took her to the vet and the issue was not anal glands but a tumor. A biopsy showed that it is an aggressive cancer. The vet then did an abdominal ultrasound to see if it had metastasized as this kind of cancer is known to do. No, we found it before it spread. Betty is having surgery on Wednesday to remove the tumor.
I am very thankful that I noticed this in time!

Her surgery is this coming Wednesday. The vet sends the removed tissue to a pathologist who makes sure there is a margin of healthy tissue around the unhealthy part. I will post an update on Betty after her procedure.
