A strange sound woke me up this morning (2/16/2020). A boom followed be a dragging sound. It was a meteor according to the Sheriff’s office.

YAVAPAI COUNTY, AZ — The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to find the source of a loud noise heard across Yavapai County around 7:20 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the sheriff department’s Facebook page.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says dispatchers received many calls from all over the county regarding the loud explosion Sunday morning.

“So far some type of meteor event, as witnessed by numerous residents in the area, seems to be the best explanation for the loud boom heard earlier,” said the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page in an update given around 12:00 p.m. “YCSO has received no official explanation at this time.”

The sheriff’s department also confirmed with the Federal Aviation Administration that there was no jet travel in the area at the time.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said it will continue to investigate.

Chinese army stole data from Equifax breach

WASHINGTON — Four members of the Chinese military have been charged with breaking into the networks of the Equifax credit reporting agency and stealing the personal information of tens of millions of Americans, the Justice Department said Monday, blaming Beijing for one of the largest hacks in history to target consumer data.

The 2017 breach affected more than 145 million people, with the hackers successfully stealing names, addresses, Social Security and driver’s license numbers and other personal information stored in the company’s databases.

The four — members of the People’s Liberation Army, an arm of the Chinese military — are also accused of stealing the company’s trade secrets, including database designs, law enforcement officials said.
