inOrange and yellow aspen trees at the San Francisco peaks in Flagstaff Az shot from the Snow Bowl ski area. The elevation here is 9500 feet. We had a partly cloudy afternoon with high winds aloft which changed the lighting of this scene from minute to minute. Note the rainstorm in the distance on the upper left of the frame.

inTaken in Lockett Meadow, an inner bowl of the San Francisco peaks in Flagstaff, Az on Oct 10, 2014. The aspen are at the peak of their fall color.
Friend Christine and I left Prescott just before 5 am to get to this location in time to catch the early morning light. Lockett Meadow is not easy to reach, there is a very steep and narrow dirt road to climb. My old Jeep had no problem with it, I have driven on roads like this quite a bit. Christine has lived in Az for 2 years and it was a new experience for her, she survived.
