I completed cardiac rehab!!

I was in cardiac rehab (click on the cardiac rehabilitation at YRMC west link to see details) at YRMC in Prescott for 36 sessions. It was tough, especially during the first half of the program. It helped me greatly. I am proud of this accomplishment, so I thought I’d share the diploma with my readers.

Health update: This week I had follow up appointments with my heart surgeon and my cardiologist. I am healing well. I can even get in and out of bed under my own power! Not as critical as being able to get off the toilet (an earlier milestone) but a positive thing.

I have bouts of shortness of breath, made worse by my respiratory allergies. So I sit down, take my time, catch my breath, do my breathing exercises.

I have been out of the house, I take short walks around the neighborhood. And I’ve gone to several stores with Gary. No dog walking for quite some time though.

Heart surgery status

I continue my s_l_o_w recovery from open heart surgery on 9/21. Had a bit of a setback this past week when my blood pressure crashed to 68/53 resulting in a one day and night hospital stay.

My new cardiologist – the prior one moved out of town – eliminated one blood pressure medication. She also told me that I am in the most difficult phase of recovery, that I should not expect to feel good. All I can do is continue to monitor my blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc., take my meds, drink at least 64 oz. of water daily, get up and walk around the house every hour (except at night). I like when a doctor is clear and straightforward like this.
