It’s time to replace my phone, a Motorola Droid. I decided to try an iPhone this time. Android is OK, but just OK. To me it feels like a Windows XP system – clunky though functional. Since I am really happy with my Macintosh computers and have had no trouble with my 4 year old iPod touch, so I decided to try Apple’s phone. I went to a Verizon store (our carrier) and they want $200 . Then today I saw an ad for Best Buy offering the same phone for $99. Both have the same 2 year Verizon contract. Neither has the phone in stock. So I placed an order at Best Buy, they will call me when the phone is available, time frame unknown. OK, my old phone still works.
The Prescott Best Buy was pretty busy. In front of me was a family where the 70-something grandfather was buying his first smart phone. His grandson was showing him how to use it. I commented to the middle generation that I thought it was great that their dad was open to learning to use new technology. We tried for years to get my mom to use email, but she never did.
