When I got pulled over by a Prescott cop yesterday while doing errands, I thought about all the troubles in the mainstream news between cops and blacks. My experience was very different.
I didn’t quite come to a stop at a stop sign.
No violence ensued. I was given a warning, not a ticket. Because I’m white, middle aged, female? Or because I pulled over when I saw the flashing lights? Was polite to the officer who was in turn polite with me? Because I had a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, insurance card and am not a felon and I don’t have any warrants? I left my gun in my purse and the officer left his in his holster – funny how well things work when everyone behaves in a civilized manner.
