Today was a nice, relaxing day. Walked the dogs early, went to the grocery store, did some laundry, watched a couple of videos, made dinner. Edited 2 batches of photos, posted some here and more on flickr.

And now my Sunday night nonsense … that strange combination of depression and anxiety. Anticipation of the upcoming work week, little of it good (except for getting paid, that is 🙂 ). And I tell myself, one year to go …

Wildflowers Say: It’s Springtime

I took a walk lunchtime and came across these wildflowers. Poppies I think. Used my phone to get this photo.

Nothing says “Spring” as loudly as wildflowers. We had a great spring day in Prescott with little wind. It was very hard to return to my unpleasant cubicle after getting outside. And it is getting harder as my cubicle dwelling approaches 35 years.

Lately I have become acutely aware of the passage of time and the finiteness of the time we each have. And spending it in a cubicle seems more and more wasteful.

Rage Quitting

Rage quitting is a term from games (I’m not a gamer but I like the phrase) where someone suddenly exits the game after having things go poorly for them, and often accompanied with some profanity.

In the work world a rage quit can be handing your ID badge, keys, etc. to your boss saying “I’m out of here” or some such.  Yesterday we had two such incidents in my building, one in my department and one in a group across the hall. Is there something in the water? The atmosphere? The emotional ether? Both individuals were people who retired and then returned to work part-time.

One of these folks I knew well, the other I did not recognize his name right away. For the one I know, this is way out of character. I have been pissed off at work, more than once in my 35 year career, but never quite that badly. Wow. I was shocked. Not a exit I would recommend.

Strange weather outside at my work. A white fog with some snow on the ground. This is rather localized, it was clear at home when I left for work and I encountered this near work. This is very rare for northern Az. And the roof leaked again on the horrible building that is my current office. My cube is one of the wet ones, again. I am weary of this third world crap.

I saw this bench in the shade of a tree on a lunchtime walk. Sitting down there is much more appealing than returning to work and sitting in a cubicle.
