I took a risk and updated my iMac from 10.12 Sierra to 10.13.1 High Sierra. I encountered 1 serious problem. My Datacolor Spyder 3 monitor calibration tool failed to calibrate the iMac’s display color profile. Serious photographers and other graphic arts folks understand how important it is to properly calibrate your displays so that the color is consistent with prints and other displays.
I contacted Datacolor support and was told that my Spyder 3 was obsolete and no longer supported 😦 I had to buy a Spyder 5 which is compatible with High Sierra. They offered my a 25% discount and a digital coupon to extend my Adobe CC subscription by 90 days at no cost.
I really did not want to re-buy a device that we use a few times each year, but all in all this is fair.

Was your Spyder 3 working on Sierra? I have a Spyder 4 Pro and an about to upgrade from Yosemite to Sierra. Am curious if my 4 will work on 10.12 Sierra? Thanks!

My Spyder 3 works on Sierra, as does my Spyder 5. I don’t have a 4.
I had too may external HD problems with 10.13, so I rolled back to 10.12 which is my current macOS version.

Did you find the way to calibrate your Spyder 3 on High Sierra or rolled back to 10.12?
I just re-installed to 10.13.2 from 10.12 yesterday and I not able to set up my Spyder 3 at all.

I had the Spyder 3 for years, I don’t know what version of OS X I had when I got it. Over time I updated the Spyder 3 software as new versions came out and updated OS X over time too. The configuration I had on 10.12 worked OK. I’m not sure what version the Spyder 3 software was.
I bought the Spyder 5, it works on 10.13 and 10.12. Since I had the new Spyder, I never went back to the Spyder 3 after restoring macOS 10.12.
I know the Spyder 3 does not work on macOS 10.13. I had the Spyder 3 working on 10.12 I know I’m not answering your question. Perhaps try and reinstall the Spyder 3 software on your restored 10.12 system – just a guess but if you’re not working it can’t make things worse.

I wonder how this can work: A spider 3 on a Sierra 10.12(.06). In my case, I only see the spyder light (blue) and when I want to go on using the software, It stops after showing the first window. I see the ‘next’ button, but clicking on it, doesn’t make a difference. After restarting, i get the same result.
Is there maybe someone who knows something more about this?

Have you tried their tech support?

You mean from Spyder itself?
Dagny Gromer said:
Yes. The company that makes it is called DataColor

I have the same problem in High Sierra 10.13.3. I any solution for this??? I don’t want to buy a new device…

Not that I know of. And the next major macOS will be 64 bit only, breaking all the 32 bit apps and more importantly all 32 bit device drivers. Chaos to come …

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I found a workaround to using the Spyder 3 on High Sierra and above. Not using the datacolor software but a third party software https://displaycal.net/ you can use the spyder 3 hardware perfectly.

Interesting. I, and most of us in that situation, bought new hardware.
